Abstract
1277763 Continuous casting ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AB 27 Oct 1969 [28 Oct 1968] 52474/69 Heading B3F [Also in Divisions C7 and F4] A method of casting comprises the steps of introducing a melt of metal or alloy into a ladle 8 provided with electromagnetic, low-frequency, multiphase stirring means 9, placing a gas-tight lid 10 over the ladle, the lid being provided with heating means 11, keeping the melt hot while stirring it, and tapping the melt into a casting mould 15 through a valve 12 in the bottom of the ladle. In operation, the atmosphere above the melt is evacuated for the ladle via means 16, causing the melt to be degassed and refined while its temperature is maintained constant or raised.
