Abstract

1277593 Clothes lines W STEINER 4 Sept 1969 [5 Sept 1968] 43909/69 Heading A4U Clothes lines 4 extend between a draw bar 2, wherein is bored for passage of the lines and at which the ends of the lines are retained by knobs 5, and a drum 13, 13' rotatable on a shaft 12 in a housing 1 and urged by a spring 14 in the direction to coil the line on the drum, the lines being drawn out of the housing singly, by outward movement of a knob 5, or simultaneously, by outward movement of the draw bar for support on an opposing wall or by engagement with bolts 8 on pivoted side supports 6. The housing is wall-mounted or supported by folding legs. The shaft 12 is non-rotatably mounted in end-plates 11 and a sleeve 18 fixed thereon guides an eccentric element 20 which is rotated by a backing member 9 to displace drums 13, 13' and spacing members 16, 17 along the shaft to lock the drums against rotation by frictional engagement with the end-plates 11. Individual drums are locked against rotation by a toothed locking disc cam 22 which is displaced laterally to engage teeth 30 on the periphery of the drum. Pivoted clothessupporting rods (23), (24), (25) may be mounted on the housing below the draw bar.
