Abstract

1277493 Fuel injection pumps ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 3 Sept 1969 [4 Sept 1968] 43605/69 Heading F1A The delivery quantity regulating member 2 of a fuel injection pump 1 is returned to its zero delivery position by means of an hydraulically actuated adjusting means 9, the actuating pressure of which is controlled by a magnetically actuated spool 22. To start the engine a switch 27 is moved to position IV wherein a starter 29, pre-heater 28, feedpump 16 and electromagnets 4 and 23 are actuated, the latter causing a bar 3 and spool 22 to move in the direction of arrows 3a and 22a. Movement of the spool releases pressure in the adjusting means 9 and the member 2 moves freely until a cut out 2a on the member abuts bar 3; in this position excess fuel is delivered. For normal running the switch is returned to position II wherein the spool is unaffected, but bar 3 is returned to its normal position to prevent further excess fuel delivery. On returning the switch to position I magnet 23 is de-activated and pressure build up in the adjusting means returns the member 2 to its zero delivery position. The normal running position of the regulating member 2 is determined by a governor coupled to the driven engine. (For Figure see next page)
