1277416 Centrifugal pumps; turbine rotors MAKEARN HOLDINGS Ltd 9 June 1969 [19 June 1968] 29120/68 Headings F1C and FIT To reduce eddying or cavitation losses on the low-pressure side of the rotor blades of a radialflow or mixed-flow machine, e.g. a turbine or pump, the rotor blades 22 each comprise at least two portions 22a, 22b which are radially and circumferentially staggered relative to one another to provide flow passage 24 through which a streamline flow passes from the high-pressure side smoothly towards the low-pressure side of the blade. The blade portions may instead be shaped and arranged as shown at 25a, 25b. An additional series of short blades 26 may be provided. The rotor may be of the fully shrouded type.
