Abstract

1277369 Container closures CONTINENTAL CAN CO Inc 3 March 1970 [5 March 1969] 10182/70 Heading B8T A container closure assembly comprises a finish ring 24 and a screw cap 26. The finish ring is screwed into the cap, prior to application of the closure assembly to a container, by means of a chuck gripping the finish ring in grooves 72. The finish ring, when applied to the neck of a container (30), Fig. 1 (not shown), is held against axial movement by faces 44 and 42 and against rotation by ribs (40) on the container neck. A tamper proof seal (74a), Fig. 4 (not shown), or (74b), Fig. 7 (not shown), may be provided, or the finish ring may have an upper wall (88c), Fig. 9 (not shown), with a sealing ring (90c), covering the container mouth. Alternatively, a weakening groove (96d), Fig. 10 (not shown), and pull tab (98d) are provided in upper wall (94d).
