Abstract

1277175 Electric cable STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd 4 Dec 1970 57681/70 Heading H1A A submarine coaxial cable comprises a central strength member core 1 and an inner conductor consisting of a laminate tape of two metals 2, 4 bonded together by an adhesive 3, longitudinally wrapped around the core and bonded to it by an adhesive 6. The inner conductor is surrounded by insulation 5, an outer conductor 7 and protective sheath 8. The inner metal of the tape, which may be aluminium, is used for D.C. power transmission and may be bonded with a copolymer to the outer metal, which may be copper, and which is used for signal transmission.
