Abstract

1276664 Cutting apparatus PARNALL & SONS Ltd 16 Dec 1969 [2 Jan 1969] 171/69 Heading B4B A guillotine for e.g. severing plastics material, comprises a blade 18 attached to a rod 13 and in guiding engagement with a second rod 14, a second blade 21 attached to the rod 14 and in guiding engagement with the rod 13 and piston- and-cylinder devices 10, 11 for imparting simultaneous movement to both rods in opposite directions so as to drive the blades and thereby effect a cutting operation. The operation of the piston-and-cylinders are 180 degrees out of phase. The ends of the rods 13, 14 are guided in bushings mounted on a frame member 15. The blade 21 is provided with a roller 26 which rolls on a spring-biased plate 27 thereby causing the blade 21 to closely contact the cutting edge of the blade 18.
