Abstract

127,659. Taylor, I. F., and Pick, S. May 15, 1917. Mines, marine.-Relates to mines which are trailed at a given depth for destroying submarine vessels, and consists in holding the mines at the desired depth by means of a float a with one or more rigid rods d depending into the water and braced up by lines j, the whole being towed by a line f from a ship h. In the form shown in elevation in Fig. 1 and in plan in Fig. 3, the main float a is connected to small stabilizing-floats a<1> by steel tubes b and lines c; two divergent rods d are used; the towing-line is connected to the float a by a line g; and the mines i are inserted in lines e between the rods d and the towing-line f, and are fired by the pull in these lines by the firing-mechanism described in Specification 115,460. Any form of contact firing-device may, however, be used, and the mines may be disposed in any other part of the apparatus.
