Abstract

1276395 Glove boxes GES FUR KERNFORSCHUNG mbH 24 June 1970 [28 June 1969] 30616/70 Heading B4Q A "double-cover" system for transferring noxious material between a glove box 3 and a container 1 comprises a wedge-shaped collar 5 projecting inwardly from a flange 2 of the glove box. A first cover 8 has a packing 7 bearing against one side of the collar 5 and the other side of the collar bears against a packing 10 of the container 1. The second cover 11 comprises a resilient membrane carrying hooks 12 which may engage an annular projection 14, of the container 1 to hold the cover against the packing 10 and thereby seal the container. As shown, the container 1 is supported against the flange 2 by a holding device 4. The covers 8, 11 are held together by a spindle 16 having a twist knob 17 mounted for rotation in the cover 8 and having a threaded end 18 engaging a tapped hob 15 formed in a member situated at the centre of the cover 11. By rotating the sipndle 16 the cover 11 may be flexed towards the cover 8 to effect a seal with the packing 7 and to cause disengagement of the hooks 12 from the projection 14. The covers 8, 11 may now be removed by rotating a wheel 22 to disengage a catch 21 from projections (not shown) fixed to the glove box.
