Abstract

1275860 Container sealing device K KAWAMINAMI 25 Nov 1970 55988/70 Heading B8T A sealing device comprises an axial spindle 5 in sliding contact with a member 10 which itself is in sliding contact with casing 1. The elasticty of a spring 11 is adjusted by a nut 5b and is initially greater than that of springs 8. Relative vertical displacement of a bottle 12, having a metal cover 13, and the sealing device, abuts the cover 13 and a flange 5d. Continued displacement initially results in the contracting of spring 11, chuck fingers 9c engaging the skirt of the cover. On further displacement, the springs 8 contract causing the fingers 9c to effect sealing of the bottle. In further embodiments, the springs 8 are replaced by leaf springs (8a), Fig. 7 (not shown), or by rubber rings (8b), Fig. 8 (not shown).
