Abstract

127,582. Garde, H. G. May 27, 1918, [Convention date]. Screw propellers.-The pressure surfaces of ships' propellers are formed with an arched surface, each separate section of which is part of a circle or a parabola constructed to the slip angle in the manner known from the construction of the supporting-surface of aeroplanes. In the Figure # is the slip angle and a the angle of pitch of the blade element I. A curved surface forming part of a circle or parabola is formed on the chord DOC from formula based on the angle of incidence of the supporting-surfaces of aeroplanes, the angle of incidence being so chosen as to equal the slip angle #.
