Abstract

480,866. Paddle-wheels. ROSCHER, E. K., and HANSING, K. J., (trading as ROSCHER & HANSING), and SUBERKRUB, F. Sept. 1, 1936, No. 23970. [Class 114] A paddle-wheel 1 has disposed aft thereof a fin 5 of aerofoil section, the fin being arranged parallel to the axis 2 of the paddle-wheel and mounted at a distance such that it is entirely within the forward part of the surface wave 4. The fin is arranged at an angle a such that the forward portion of the under surface of the fin is at a slight angle c to the water direction. The leading edge is disposed at a horizontal distance B between the paddle-wheel of at least onefifteenth of the diameter of the wheel when feathering paddles are employed. The width of the fin is at least one-seventeenth of the diameter of the paddle-wheel.
