Abstract

1,274,721. Magnetic brush developer. RICOH K.K, June 9, 1969 [June 8, 1968 (2)], No. 29079/69. Heading G2H. In a developing device, electro-photographic sheets 23 are fed down past one side of a cylindrical rotating magnetic brush 3, supplied with toner from reservoir 6, and then up past the opposite side to give two development stages. The sheets 23 are guided past the development areas between continuous belts 8, 11 and linear guidemembers 18, 19 respectively. The latter, preferably formed of wires, are hung on the shafts of rollers 14 and 16 and are arranged to reciprocate transversely along a direction parallel to the axis of the cylinder 3 by the engagement of their bottom ends in grooves in rollers 15 and 17 so that they may stir the brushes. The lower parts of the paths are connected by a U-shaped guide 22 through which surplus developer may fall. In a second embodiment Fig. 2 (not shown), the reciprocating guides 18, 19 are replaced by a number of strings (27) wound around the shafts of rollers 14, 15, 16 and 17.
