Abstract

1,274,444. Stamping; making teapots &c. SAMUEL GROVES & CO. Ltd. 25 Aug., 1969 [24 Aug., 1968], No. 40563/68. Headings B3A and B3Q. [Also in Division A4] A process for the manufacture of a tea pot starts with a circular blank which is drawn between dies to form a hollow flanged member, Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown). The flange is trimmed off and the member formed between dies without drawing to produce a channel-section spout 22c. A final upwardly tapering shape shown in chain dotted lines is produced by inserting a rubber block 24 on a tapered shaft 25 into the initially parallel sided vessel and compressing the rubber block 24 by means of a pressure plate 26 and thus expanding the vessel into a split die. The spout is then trimmed to the desired profile and a segmental top and a spout cover are welded in place. A handle is spot welded diametrically opposite to the spout.
