Abstract

1,168,050. Forging. KABEL - UND METALLWERKE NEUMEYER G.m.b.H. 26 Jan., 1967 [26 Jan., 1966], No. 51518/68. Divided out of 1,166,185. Heading B3H. A cup-shaped metal body is made by enclosing a blank within a die 34 of larger internal diameter than the blank, piercing it with a punch 35, and then moving the punch relatively to the die to form the bottom of the cup into the desired thickness. The blank is supported on a bottom ram 31 and the die is supported on springs 39 which are initially compressed whilst the die is moved downwardly over the blank. Subsequently upper springs 37 are compressed and the punch 35 is pressed into the blank to provide a thin bottom for the cup.
