Abstract

1,273,077. Cystoscopes. RICHARD WOLF G.m.b.H. 8 April, 1970 [11 April, 1969], No. 16763/70. Heading A5R. A cystoscope comprises a flexible endoscope that slides within an elastically bendable catheter transparent at its distel end. The proxinal end of the catheter 3 is funnel shaped to facilitate the insertion of the endoscope. The latter consists of a bendable shaft 4, a fibre light conductor and a fibre image conductor and its distil end is controlled by handles 9 attached to wires running through the shaft. A light projector within the rigid end of the endoscope 5 is connected to the fibre light conductor and operated by an electrical supply cable through socket 6. The fibre image conductor leads directly to the eye piece situated in the hood 7. The fibre light conductor concentrically surrounds the image conductor which leads to an objective lens window 2 in either the end of the catheter or the side (or in both places) to allow direct and/or lateral vision. A cleaning fluid may be supplied and withdrawn through a member 8 by way of a tube running along the fibre image bundle into the bladder. For continuous flushing there may be two tubular ducts connected to the rigid end of the endoscope.
