Abstract

1,272,008. Electrostatic or magnetic imaging. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. Nov.7, 1969, No.54692/69. Heading G2H. [Also in Division B6] An electrostatic or magnet image formed on a drum 1 at a station 2 is developed with toner at 4, transferred to a web 7 and fixed by spraying at 8 with linseed oil which is then solidified. Linseed oil hardens in air due to oxidation and this may be accelerated by irradiating with U.V. or I. R. at 9 and/or using an atmosphere of oxygen. Transfer can be stopped by using a solenoid 5c to retract transfer roller 5a. The developed image on the drum may be viewed in a mirror (not shown) and to improve visibility of the image, the drum's surface may have a white, matt silver or reflective coating.
