Abstract
1,271,573. Cycle freewheel arrangement. CSEPELIKEREKPAR ES VARROGEPGYAR 16 July, 1969, No. 35906/69. Heading B7E. A gear-wheel comprises a driven part 1 mounted coaxially within a driving part 2, the driven part 1 having depressed wedge-shaped tracks 3 formed in its surface which faces the driving part 2, each track housing a roller 4 located by a cage 5 which by means of a spring 8 having one end secured to the cage 5 and the other end to the driven part 1 urges the rollers towards the thinner end of the tracks. The driving part 2 carries sprocket wheels (9) engaging a cycle chain and the driven part 1 is coupled to the cycle wheel. When the driving part 2 is rotated by pedalling the rollers are wedged in the thinner part of the tracks to drivingly connect the parts 1 and 2. On freewheeling and back-pedalling the rollers move against the spring-urged cage into the deeper part of the tracks with no driving connection between the parts 1 and 2.
