Abstract

1,271,119. Refrigerating. LUWA A.G. 25 Sept., 1969 [26 Sept., 1968], No. 47286/69. Heading F4H. In a compression-condensation system having a continuously running compressor 1, the output is controlled by switching refrigerant flow between the normal circuit and a circuit including only the compressor 1, evaporator 8, and a by-pass 19. The normal circuit is closed by means of a shut-off valve 20 before the auxiliary circuit is opened by means of a shutoffvalve 22 so that the greater part of the refrigerant is stored in a receiver 6 during the offload periods. A check valve 24 isolates the stored refrigerant. Both valves 20 and 22 may be operated by a time delay controller 30 acting in response to a measured temperature signal fed in at 34 and a required temperature signal fed in at 32. Alternatively, the controller may simply control the valve 20, while the valve 22 is operated by evaporator pressure sensed at 37. The condenser 4 is water cooled and the valves 20 and 22 are magnetically operated.
