Abstract

1,270,527. Illuminated box signs. HAWESIGNS Ltd. 9 July, 1969 [9 July, 1968], No. 32693/68. Heading G5C. A display sheet is sandwiched between transparent or translucent plastics sheets 21, 15, of which sheet 21 hangs in a hinged or removable frame 22 which presses sheet 21 towards sheet 15 by means of a resilient packing 25. As described, sheet 21 is secured to a fillet 24 which rests in a channel 23 of the frame. Similarly sheet 15 hangs by means of a fillet 17 in a channel 16 and has a rubber packing 19. The arrangement allows for thermal expansion of sheets 21, 15 in the vertical plane. On one side the frame 22 may pivot on a hinge (26), Fig. 4 (not shown), and on the other it may be retained by a pivoted hook (28), Fig. 3 (not shown). A fluorescent light source (T) may be fronted by a diffuser sheet (13), Fig. 2 (not shown).
