[Class 3 (i)] In display apparatus of the type comprising a frame fitted with a plurality of independently illuminated compartments, which are selectively lit by a switch, the compartments 22 are separate and removable. The matter displayed may be on several sheets or on a single rolled-up sheet unwound across the face of the compartments. Alternatively, the compartments may contain objects for display. Fig. 5 shows a construction of compartment in which a removable back has pressed-out lugs 40 which embrace flanges 52 on the roof and floor of the compartment. A lamp socket 31 and plug pins 32 are carried by the back, and slits under louvres 37 permit ventilation. The sheet 25 of translucent paper bearing the display is located between sheets of glass 26 which may be tinted and may be covered by a second sheet of glass. In other forms, the back and also the roof and floor may be hinged to the body of the compartment, and a false bottom 28 may assist in holding the display sheet in place. The front edges of the walls of the compartments may be covered with rubber &c., and the walls themselves may be of plastic material. According to the Provisional Specification, the vibrations set up by a gramophone record may control the electric illuminating switch. Specifications 546,174 and 563,967 are referred to.
