Abstract

1,269,614. Rolling mills. ZDARSKE STROJIRNY A SLEVARNY NARODNI PODNIK. 2 Sept., 1970 [5 Sept., 1969], No. 41953/70. Heading B3M. A rolling mill includes a pair of rolls supported at their ends in chocks 2, the rolls being adjustable by screws which extend between the chocks and which each engage with a nut 3 in an upper chock and a bush 4 in an adjacent lower one Both the nut and bush are rotatable relative to their respective chocks about a horizontal axis, so that the chocks can pivot relative to the screws (Fig. 5). The screws are driven by a motor or handwheel 8 (Fig. 3) through gearing 9 and clutches 10. The clutches allow the screws at opposite ends of the rolls to be either individually or simultaneously adjusted. The rolls are balanced by hydraulic cylinders, and can be axially adjusted.
