Abstract

1,268,203. Hydraulic reciprocating motors. DOWTY TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENTS Ltd. Aug.25, 1969 [Aug. 26, 1968], No.40752/68. Heading F1A. A reversible motor has a movable ported valvemember 27 located between a ported face 26 of a rotary cylinder block 12 and a stationary ported valve face 5, the valve-member 27 being moved by the cylinder block when its direction of rotation is reversed, the movement of member 27 being limited by stop means such that its ports 28, 29 form extensions of the ports 6, 7 in face 5 and the cylinder block ports 25 change connection from one valve face port to the other slightly in advance of the dead centre positions of the corresponding pistons. The cylinder block may have axial, inclined or radial cylinders and the face valve shown may be replaced by a pintle valve, with a stationary pintle and a rotatable sleeve forming the valve-member 27. The stop means comprise a pin 33 projecting from face 5 into a slot 32 in member 27, Fig. 5. Flanges 42 and 43 in ports 28, 29 prevent short-circuiting of ports 6, 7 during movement of member 27. Grooves 45 prevent pressure pulses in the cylinders.
