Abstract

[Also in Division A3] A press for attaching pronged fastener components to a pocket or sleeve of material at the waistband of a pair of trousers or a skirt comprises an upper member for holding a pronged component and being mounted so that it can be moved downward towards a lower member for supporting and locating a back plate and for causing prongs of a pronged component to be bent over against the back plate. The lower member comprises a cantilevered arm insertable into said pocket or sleeve, and having, over at least the greater part of its length and over at least part of its width, a depth which is in excess of half the width of the arm. As illustrated the upper member 8 includes holders 9 for pronged components, of the form illustrated in Fig. 3, and is pivotable towards the arm 7 by hand (as shown), under foot-operation, or automatically, e.g. pneumatically. The arm 7 as illustrated is T-shaped in section. Alternatively the arm may be of rectangular crosssection.
