Abstract

126,737. Parkes, S. R. March 9, 1917. Projectiles; projectile fuses.-A fuse for an aircraft bomb comprises an inertia striker D, enclosed in a tube b<2>, the lower end of the striker resting on a creep spring d<2>, while the upper end projects beyond the tube b<2>. A vaned nut c<1>, Fig. 1, screws on to the end of the striker. As the bomb drops, the nut unscrews completely from the striker and falls away from the bomb, the striker being prevented from rotating by a fixed pin d<3> passing through a slot d<1>. Fixed vanes B are mounted on the neck b<1> of the bomb. These parts may be made of wood.
