Abstract
1,266,569. Papermaking machines. BELOIT CORP. 29 April, 1969 [20 May, 1968], No. 21854/69. Heading D2A. A papermaking machine has a stock nozzle positioned to introduce stock between two tensioned forming wires, one of the wires passing over an elongated, convexly non-circularly contoured, stationary unyielding surface which is positioned to effect gradual convergence of the wires, the wires then passing over a suction gland on the uprunning side of a suction roll. The wires may then be separated, leaving the web on either the top surface of one wire or the other surface of the other wire, whence it may be couched by a pickup roll, preferably suction, wrapped by a felt. The stationary surface may be water-impermeable, or may be formed by a plurality of longitudinally spaced generally transverse belt-contacting thin edges, and these may form the mouth of a suction box. Foils may be provided behind the wire opposite to the stationary surface at a position after the off running side of the surface savealls and doctors acting on the rolls may be provided, and the two wires preferably are both positively driven e.g. by a conventional synchronised drive.
