Abstract

1,266,563. Measuring condition of railway track. F. PLASSER. 9 April, 1969 [9 April, 1968], No. 18082/69 Heading B7N. The condition of a rail track, i.e. rail stiffness, ballast resilience &c., is determined by applying loads to the track in both vertical and transverse directions and measuring the track deflection. The loads may be fixed or varied to produce a fixed deflection or the loads may be applied simultaneously to different points along the track and the resulting deflections compared. The loads may be applied by means of a vibrating hammer and the deflections measured by vibration responsive detection means.
