Abstract
1415720 Measuring distance travelled by rail vehicle MESSERSCHMITT - BOLKOWBLOHM GmbH 19 March 1973 [29 March 1972] 13000/73 Heading B7N [Also in Division G1] A method of measurement of the distance travelled by a vehicle supported and guided by a track structure, comprises detecting fixed points which are an integral and inherent part of the track structure and which repeat at regular intervals, e.g. expansion joints, welds or bolts, and counting the detected points. The sensing may be done photoelectrically, induetively, capaoitively or ultrasonically and the method is preferably applied with a vehicle contactlessly supported by magnets and movable over rails.
