Abstract

1309300 Aligning railway tracks MATISA MATERIEL INDUSTRIEL SA 26 May 1970 [13 June 1969] 25251/70 Heading B7N [Also in Division G1] In an arrangement for measuring a geometric characteristic of a railway track, e.g., the position of a track rail in the horizontal or vertical plane, each measurement comprises the sum of a first signal derived from a transducer responsive to the position of contact members which are in uncertain contact with the rail and a second correction signal derived from non- contact-making transducers developing signals which are a function of the distances between the contact members and the rail. In the arrangement shown the contact members are the wheels 13, 14, 15 of the measuring vehicle and the arrangement provides a signal F indicating the lateral position of the track adjacent wheel 14 relative to its position at wheels 13, 15 by supplying a first signal d from transducer 16, 17 indicating the position of wheel 14 relative to wheels 13, 15 as modified by signals a, b and c from transducers 18, which indicate the distances between the flanges of wheels 13, 14, 15 and the rails, in accordance with the formula where l1, l2 and L are the distances shown in the Figure.
