1,265,860. Refrigerators. COMPAGNIE FRANCAISE THOMSON HOUSTON-HOTCHKISS BRANDT. 3 Dec., 1969 [6 Dec., 1968], No. 59117/69. Heading F4H. In a refrigerator defrost water from the evaporator is led via a tube 3 to an evaporation tray 1 fixed in heat exchange contact with the casing of the motor-driven compressor unit. The tray 1 has a downwardly and outwardly directed part which terminates in a vertical side 5 to define a peripheral reservoir containing an overflow arrangement comprising a partition 8 and a drain pipe 9. A slotted tube 6 ensures proper location of the end of the tube 3 within the tray while allowing the defrost water to enter the tray. Excess water collecting in the tray flows out over the top of the partition 8 and escapes through the tube 9 from whence it is led via a drain pipe 11 away from the compartment housing the compressor unit and electrical components. A cloth 14 stretched over a frame 15 removably retained in the tray by flanges 16 may be provided to increase the evaporation area. The cloth is arranged partially immersed in the water (see Fig. 4).
