Abstract

1,265,771. Treating textiles with gases. LUWA A.G. 29 July, 1970 [30 July, 1969], No. 36786/70. Heading D1L. Apparatus for treating endless fibrous material with a gas, e.g. for cooling, comprises a plurality of working stations arranged longitudinally of the apparatus, each having a plurality of associated processing units for the material. The units of each station are selectively movable into the working position and are connected to a vacuum duct which extends the length of the apparatus. As described, the units form part of a yarn texturing device and are formed as grooves in the surfaces of a triangular rotatable pyramid 30. The faces A, B, C of the pyramid have grooves 36, 37; 38, 39; and 50 respectively which receive inserts for forming spiral yarn passageways in the grooves. The sets of grooves are connected to a common vacuum duct (49) inside the pyramid via ducts (46). An operation, yarn from heater (10) is fed to the desired grooves, these being selected by rotation of the pyramid, and is then fed to a twisting spindle (14). Cooling air is drawn into the grooves via hollow pyramid support 75 and an orifice 79 in pivot 78. The support 75 is connected with the vacuum duct which extends along the apparatus. The orifice 79 communicates only with the ducts (46) which lead to the grooves being used for threading-up the pyramid may swing sideways on pivot 18. Surface A is used to produce S-twist, surface B for Z-twist and surface C for "selective" twist.
