Abstract

1350106 False twisting TURBO MACHINE CO 3 Dec 1971 [20 May 1971] 56166/71 Heading D1D A yarn false twisting machine comprises two rotatable wheels forming a cusp, and means for feeding and guiding a yarn through the cusp, in a direction generally parallel to the wheels axis, so that the yarn is wrapped about an outer surface of one wheel. The apparatus may comprise three pairs of wheels 56, 58, the yarn being fed through the lower outer cusps and the upper inner cusp. The yarn is guided so that it is urged towards the three nips and towards the outer surfaces of wheels 56, each surface being formed by an 'O'-ring of, for example, polyurethane or synthetic rubber, seated in a peripheral wheel groove. The wheels are so rotated that their outer surfaces at the point of yarn contact are moving away from the nips.
