Abstract
1,264,566. Electrode materials. METALLWERK PLANSEE A.G. & CO. K.G. 19 May, 1970 [24 July, 1969], No. 24111/70. Heading H1D. [Also in Division C7] Targets for X-ray tubes (e.g. rotary targets) are made, at least in the focal track area, of an alloy comprising:- with optional additions of one or more of Ir, Os, Pd, Pt and Re in a total amount of 0À01-4%, the balance being W. When only the focal track is made of the alloy the target base may be of graphite, W, Mo or alloys of W or Mo. In the example the target is made by filling a die with Mo powder, adding a layer of powdered W 1À5% Rh powder, pressing the composite at 4 tons/inch<SP>2</SP> and then sintering in vacuum or a reducing atmosphere at 2000‹ C. Reference is made to applying the coating layer by gas phase deposition or plasma gun spraying followed by diffusion annealing.
