Abstract

1,169,029. Tungsten alloys. SIEMENS A. G. Nov. 21, 1966 [Nov. 20, 1965], No. 52122/66. Heading C7A. [Also in Division Hl] At least the election impact surface of an anode plate for an X-ray tube consists of a refractory metal alloy comprising 0À05 to 3 wt. per cent of Ir or a little more, but no more than 3À5 wt. per cent (e. g. 0À3 wt. per cent in the range 0À1 to 1 wt. per cent), the remainder being either all W or up to 25 wt. per cent of one or more other refractory metals and the rest W. The alloy may, for example, contain at least 87 wt. per cent of W and any further metal other than Ir may be Mo in amount up to no more than 10 wt. per cent of the alloy. The entire anode plate of a stationary or rotary anode X-ray tube may consist of the alloy or may be applied as a 0À1 to 2 mm thick surface layer to a base of W or Mo or an alloy of same (e. g. 5 and 95 per cent W and Mo respectively. A 1mm. thick surface layer may be of 0À3 wt. per cent Ir, 5 wt. per cent Mo and the rest W.
