Abstract

126,450. Thoraley, F. C. May 7, 1918. Lids and covers.-The lid of a box, can, or other receptacle comprises a plate clamped to the rim 25 of the can &c. by a cam 24 carried by a lever 21 pivoted at 22 in a bridge-shaped member 6, which is formed from strips 17, 18 spaced apart by distance-pieces 19, 20 and having inwardly turned ends 9, 10 shaped to engage the underside of the rim 25. The plate 1 has diametrically arranged bulges 2, 3 having notches, through which the ends of the member 6 pass so that, when not in use, the lid is carried on the ends 9, 10 of the member 6. The lower surface of the cam may be thickened, as shown, or provided with a roller.
