A method for the production of cohered yarns composed of a plurality of continuous filaments comprises advancing the filaments between a gas jet directed substantially perpendicularly to the direction of advance of the filaments and a body 16', the surface of which limits the deflection of the filaments under the action of the gas jet from their rectilinear advance, but which permits free flow of gas past the filaments, the deflection of the filaments transverse to the direction of advance thereof and to the axis of the gas jet also being limited. The transverse deflection is preferably limited by providing the body 16' with a limiting area. In a preferred embodiment, the body 16' is a cylindrical rod and the limiting area is formed by a circumferential groove 25. In an alternative embodiment, the rod 16 is also provided with a longitudinal groove which intersects the circumferential groove 25 where the gas jet from the nozzle 14 impinges. A further embodiment utilises four pegs projecting from the surface of body 16' and spaced apart longitudinally and circumferentially. The yarn produced comprises interlaced non-twisted filaments and has knops along its length.
