Abstract

1,264,274. Sanitary towels. ETABS RUBY S.A. 9 June, 1970 [10 June, 1969], No. 27982/ 70. Heading A5R. A sanitary towel comprises at least one strip 7 of absorbent material placed on at least one narrower strip 6 of hydrophobic material, the longitudinal edges of strip 7 being folded over away from strip 6 to form a channel 2. The aborbent material may be folded a second time to form a deeper channel and the strip of hydrophobic material may extend at least partially over the lateral edges of the towel. A second strip of hydrophobic material 8 and a second layer of absorbent material (9), Fig. 4, (not shown), may be successively placed on layers 6 and 7 and the two absorbent layers may then be folded as above. The second hydrophobic layer may be replaced by a strip of semi-impermeable cellulose (10), Fig. 9, (not shown). The absorbent and hydrophobic materials may be hydrophilic and hydrophobic cotton respectively, and the towel may be enclosed in a fabric netting sleeve.
