Abstract
1,238,812. Disposable diaper. PROCTER & GAMBLE CO. 3 March, 1970 [3 March, 1969], No. 10176/70. Heading A3V. A substantially rectangular disposable diaper 10 with a plurality of paper and absorbent layers has a transverse central fold 26 including outer infolds 36, 37, a central infold 29 and intermediate outfolds 32, 33 between the central infold and each outer infold; inner apexes 30, 31 where the central infold joins each intermediate outfold, intermediate apexes 34, 35 where each intermediate outfold joins its adjoining outer infold, outer apexes 38, 39, 40, 41 on each side edge of the diaper equidistant from the central fold ends 27, 28, outfolds 46, 47, 48, 49 from each outer apex to the nearest intermediate apex, and infolds 42, 43, 44, 45 from each outer apex to the nearest inner apex. The diaper may have in its longitudinal central portion a narrow layer comprising at least one composite layer 14 of wet strength crepe paper 15, 17 and airfelt 16, the edges 18a and 18b of the narrow layer intersecting the intermediate outfolds. Preferably, the narrow layer has two composite layers 14, 18 at least one of which is embossed, the narrow layer being interposed between an airfelt layer 13 overlying a bottom sheet 11 and a wet strength crepe paper layer 22 covered by a saturated paper topsheet 23.
