Abstract

1298527 Disposable napkin G C BURGER 19 April 1971 [12 Feb 1970] 21671/71 Heading A5R [Also in Division A3] A napkin for babies or incontinent persons comprise an absorbing layer 8 and 9 enclosed between two sheets of impervious material 6 and 7, which may be welded or glued together round their peripheries, together with a strip 1 and another absorbing layer 5, holes 4 and 4a being provided at least through sheet 6 for the deposition of urine and excrement respectively in the absorbing layer and in a pocket between the two impervious layers. Sheet 7 may be of greater extent than the others and may be provided with self adhesive strips for securing the napkin in place on a wearer or alternatively the projecting ends 2 and 3 of strip 1 may be attached to a suspender which is fitted round the wearer's neck. In a second embodiment the strip does not have projecting ends but instead it has recesses cut from it so as to fit the shape of the wearer's legs, and further slots are cut in the strip so that the napkin may more easily conform to the body's contours. In this embodiment, a pair of holes is made at each end of certain of the layers for the attachment thereto of a suspender hook. The impervious layers in each case may be made of plastics and the absorbent layers may be of cellulosic wadding or hydrophilic cotton; a thin layer of talc may be provided on the free surface of absorbing layer 5.
