Abstract
1,262,849. Roller tables. MASCHINENFABRIK SACK G.m.b.H. 10 Sept., 1970 [20 Sept., 1969], No. 43424/70. Addition to 1,069,395. Heading B3M. A roller table for a rolling mill includes a number of rollers 1 each supported at its ends in bearing casings 1, each casing being clamped to a frame member 3 of the roller table by means of an hydraulically pre-stressed wedge assembly. The assembly includes two wedges which pass through aligned apertures in the frame member and in limbs 6 and 7 of the casing. The wedges are held together by a bolt 14 having a plate spring 17 and a nut 20 at one end. To clamp the wedges firmly together, and hence hold the casing securely to the frame member, the spring 17 is pre-stressed during assembly. The nut 20 is initially screwed fingertight against the spring and then a block and sleeve 23 are assembled on the bolt. Hydraulic pressure is exerted between the block and sleeve to compress the spring (Fig. 2). The nut 20 is then tightened and the block and sleeve removed. The wedge 8, which has abutments 12 and 13 to hold it axially in place, may be dispensed with and the adjacent faces of the limbs 6 and 7 provided with wedge-shaped surfaces.
