Abstract

The locking device used to hold together elements of a tubular assembly fits inside the end of a tube and is connected to a spacer, the spacer having an element attached to each end. The device has grooves cut in the corners of its cross-section to accommodate the bolts attaching it to the spacer and long wedging pieces. The wedges have protrusions which fit in radial holes in the device. A tightening piece is screwed into a threaded hole, and has curved surfaces which apply an adjustable force through a ball to the ends of the wedge extensions, forcing the wedges outwards and locking the device in place in the tube.
