Abstract

1,260,919. Surgical electrodes. SPITALUL CLINIC DE OBSTETRICA SI GINECOLOGIE POLIZU. 21 Feb., 1969, No. 9585/69. Heading A5R. A device for collecting bio-electric currents of the foetal heart comprises a cupping glass 1 made of dielectric material, a tube 2 fastened at one end to the cupping glass, and a metallic electrode 3 having a head and a stem, and mounted with the head in the cupping glass, the stem having a hollow interior S which communicates between the interior of the tube 2 and the interior V of the cupping glass by way of at least one hole O in the wall of the stem, the free end of the tube being connected to a suction bulb 6 and carrying a terminal 4 for connection of the device to an electrocardiograph, which terminal is electrically connected to the electrode. Preferably the tube 2 is of metal with an insulating sleeve 5, the stem of the electrode being screwed to the tube 2 and the bulb 6 is connected to the tube by a flexible tube 7. The tube may be of dielectric material and carry two terminals connected by separate conductors passing down the tube to two electrodes mounted in the cupping glass.
