Abstract

825,400. Capacitors. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Aug. 14, 1958 [Aug. 17, 1957], No. 26170/58. Class 37. A capacitor comprises a tubular dielectric body 1 having inner and outer metallic electrodes 2, 5, and a lead-through conductor 6 which is soldered at 7 to one extremity of electrode 2 and has a widened part 8 which bears against the other extremity of electrode 2. The body 1 may be ceramic with electrodes 2, 5 formed by silver coatings. In a preferred construction, conductor 6 is flattened at 8, a hole 11 being provided for a lead, and is drawn against the end 4 of electrode 2, the other end 3 then being dipped in a lead-tin-silver solder to complete join 7. The connection 7 and electrode 5 are then covered by a layer 10 of a cadmium-tin-lead solder having a lower melting point than that of join 7. Alternatively electrode 2 may extend beyond the end 4 and conductor 6 may have a lateral extension which bears against electrode 2.
