Abstract

1,260,715. Nuts. ELLIOTT BROS. (LONDON) Ltd. 13 March, 1970 [15 March, 1969], No. 13713/69. Addition to 1,208,779. Heading F2H. [Also in Division G2] Mounting means 11 for a lens unit as disclosed in parent Specification comprises a male part 15 to which a reflective member 13 is secured, a female part 17 which is threadingly connected to the male part and has a spherical outer bearing surface, a hollow seating member 21 which is secured to a frame portion 25 of the unit and receives the female part, and means 27 for securing the male and female parts with respect to the frame portion. The female part 17 is constituted by a split nut having orthogonal slots 29, 29<SP>1</SP> and seated in a surface 31 of the member 21, and the means 27 is a ring nut. The surfaces 31 and 35 are shown as spherical but other surfaces of revolution, such as conical or ellipsoidal may be employed. When the nut 27 is loosened the reflective member 13 may be advanced or retracted by rotating the nut 17 about the male part 15, and moved angularly by rocking the nut 17 in its seating; it may then be locked in position by tightening the nut 27. The member 21 is mounted on the frame 25 by means of screws 41 which extend through apertures 39 with clearances 43, and the mounting may be laterally adjusted after loosening the screws 41 within the limits of the clearances 43.
