Abstract

1419081 Vehicle mirrors SURREY STEEL COMPONENTS Ltd and J S CONN 29 Jan 1973 [1 Feb 1972] 4742/72 Heading B7J [Also in Division E2] A vehicle rear view mirror is clamped to a supporting rod 28 by a U-shaped bracket 9 which straddles a threaded boss 7 (the legs of the U engaging in slots 27) to retain the rod with packing pieces 8 (if necessary) between the base of the U and a recess 25 in the boss, a washer 10 then engaging feet 30 of the bracket and a nut 11 threaded on the boss retaining the assembly together. The mirror head 5 has a ball portion 22 which is bolted to a cup portion 14 of boss 7 with an intermediate liner 6. Spring 3 provides that head 5 remains in a set position with respect to the boss. Sets of packing pieces 8 may be provided to enable the mirror to be clamped to rods of different cross-sectional shape. Recess 25 is parabolic or semi-circular in cross-section.
