Abstract

1,260,579. Switching systems for transformers. E. SCHEUBECK. 21 Nov., 1969 [23 Nov., 1968], No. 57125/69. Addition to 1,126,840. Heading H2H. A tap-changing arrangement for a transformer as disclosed in the parent Specification, is modified by including rectifier bridges in parallel with the inverse parallel connected thyristor pairs. In the circuit shown, bridges 83, 84 have capacitors 81, 82, attenuating resistors 13, 14, and discharge resistors 85, 86 respectively connected across their D.C. terminals.. The capacitors need only be of the D.C. type, which are much smaller than the A.C. capacitors required in the circuit described in the parent Specification, and the previously required chokes are no longer needed since the rectifiers prevent the capacitors discharging through the thyristors.
