[Also in Division G3] In a switched D.C. power supply system such as that described in Specification 1,051,629, the transient surge currents due to switching on the supply are limited by a surge suppression resistor which initially carries the load current; when the load current reaches a steady value, a thyristor is rendered conductive to short-circuit the resistor.
