Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase the breakdown rating, by providing the voltage element which is conductive when the voltage between the power supply lines exceeds a given amplitude, and the auxiliary transistor increasing the base current of the output transistor through the amplification of the current flowing to the voltage element. CONSTITUTION:The diode 9 being the constant voltage element and the NPN transistor 10 being the auxiliary transistor are provided to the switching circuit. The cathode of the diode 9 is connected to the power supply line, the anode is connected to the base of the transistor 10, and the collector and emitter of the transistor 10 are respectively connected to the collector and emitter of the output transistor 4. With this constitution, when the Zener voltage of the diode 9 is set so that it satisfies the equation 1, when no abnormal surge voltage is present, the circuit operates normally, but if surge voltage is incoming, the output transistor 4 is in saturation condition to avoid damage.
