Abstract

PURPOSE:To accurately protect the output transistor from over-current and short circuit current, by turning on/off a current with a collector output of an inverter circuit the base of which is connected to the base of an output transistor, for switching action. CONSTITUTION:If load terminals 18, 19 of an output transistor (TR) having a base 20, collector 14 and emitter 16, and a TR operated as an inverter having a collector 13 with common base and emitter 15 are in short circuit and in overload, an abnormal overcurrent flows to the collector 14 of a TR12, and A1/A2 (current of the collector 14) flows to the collector 13 with Miller effect. Thus, a voltage drop is produced across a resistor 11 to turn on a PNP TR6. Then, the TR6 turns on, a voltage drop is produced across a resistor 8 with the collector current of the TR6 to turn on NPN TR9. The minority charge of the base of the TR12 is momentarily flowed through the TR9 by this turning-off to turn off the TR12.
