Abstract

1,260,559. Knitting-machines. FEINSTRUMPFWERKE "ESDA" VEB. 19 May, 1969, No. 25447/69. Headings D1C and D1K. A circular stocking machine is provided with a half-dial 3 pivotable downwards to transfer sinker loops from an arc of toe needles to an arc of instep needles by means of pairs of co-operating transfer bits 4, 4a. One bit of each pair with an upwardly directed hook is advanced to engage a loop while the other is retained by a tooth 20. The bit is then retracted to hold the loops in the hooks. The dial axis carries a pinion 12, meshing with a rack 16 whose upper end 14 can be urged upwards by a spring 15, but is normally depressed by a member 18. When the member is withdrawn the dial inverts into the transfer position as knitting of the toe proceeds. The dial cam is raised during inversion to avoid fouling the bit butts; the dial may also be raised for clearance. In the transfer position the instep needles are raised between splayed parts of the bits to receive the loops.
